Profile

I am a mature, creative and friendly Native Speaker and Teacher. I was educated at two Schools, at Art College and at two Universities in England. I am qualified to teach ICT, English to speakers of other languages, IB ITGS and the TOEIC. I have had over 19 years of full time employment teaching Business English, Cambridge English and ICT. I have experience teaching at Universities, Corporations, IT Companies, Language Schools, International Schools, Secondary Schools, Elementary Schools, Summer Schools and Online etc.

Between October 2014 and January 2018, I was employed by the Technical University of Dresden to teach Business English to Masters Students at IHI Zittau. I have had experience teaching ICT at two International Schools in Poland and have had many summer teaching jobs including one working with Bede’s International Summer School working as an Academies Teacher (Teaching English and ICT).

HIghlights

  • I won a Art College prize which I used to travel around Europe and visit museums in Switzerland the Czech Republic by Euro-train etc.
  • Whilst studying at Middlesex University, I won the University prize for ‘Excellence in the local Community’.
  • I directed five International Arts Festivals. Two of which were co-organised with the New York Arts Magazine.
  • I have walked on the Great Wall of China twice and travelled extensively.
  • I ran my own company between April 2014 and June 2019 in Poland. I created all of my own contracts, invoices, posters, flyers, roll-ups, youtube videos and upgrades to websites etc.
  • In July 2019, I will move to Vietnam and began teaching at a school in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) in August.

Fuller story

Childhood

24th July 1968 – I was born in Stamford, Connecticut, USA to British parents. I thus have dual Nationality with full UK and USA passports. My father was a scientist, Professor and Vice Chancellor at University College London in the UK. My mother was a nurse. I went to St Johns Primary School, Ipswich School (for my GCSE’s) and Woodbridge School for my A’levels.

Higher Education

Between September 1989 and July 1993 – I studied at the City and Guilds of London Art School. I completed a Foundation in Fine Art and a Graduate-ship of the City and Guilds Institute qualification in Fine Art Painting. I won an Travel Art Prize which I used to explore Art Museums in Europe via Euro-train.

From September 1993 to July 1996 – I studied Art, ICT and Education Studies at Middlesex University. I did several Community based Art projects. In particular, I worked at a Charity called Hoffmann de Visme in Wood Green where I taught and helped adults with autism to create works of Art. I was asked to co-organise an exhibition of their art and fundraise for it. As a result of my endeavours, I was awarded the official Ede and Ravenscroft Prize for “Excellence in the local community”. I graduated with an honours degree.

September 1999 to July 2000 – I studied at the Institute of Education. I gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in ICT.

Career start

I gained my first job teaching ICT in September 2000.

Summer 2003 – I went to China on a ten-day trip and visited Beijing, Guilin and Xian. I walked on the Great Wall of China (Badaling section)

August 2004 – I organised the first “Raw Arts Festival” at  the Candid Arts Trust in The Angel, Highbury, London.

May 2005 – I organised the second “Raw Arts Festival” at the Candid Arts Trust. This was one of the largest and best exhibitions of Raw Art organised in London and was widely acclaimed

October 2006 – I worked with the New York Arts Magazine to co-organise the third “Raw Arts Festival” at the Color Elefante Gallery in Valencia in Spain

Poland

April 2007 to July 2008 – I taught ICT at the British School in Warsaw (International School) in Poland. I taught the International GCSE in ICT and also the International Baccalaureate. In July 2008, the school sent me to Athens where I gained an ITGS Teaching Certificate

January 2007 – I worked with the New York Arts Magazine to co-organise the fourth “Raw Arts Festival” at the Carrozzini von Buhler Gallery, in New York in the USA.

Summer of 2007 – I was an artist in residence at the New York Arts Magazine Gallery space for a month located on the outskirts of Beijing. I walked on the Great Wall of China for the second time (Badaling section).

January 2008 – I bought a flat in Krakow in Poland

March 2008 – I worked with the Infusion Gallery to co-organise the fifth and final “Raw Arts Festival” at the Infusion Gallery, in Los Angeles in the USA.

July 2008 – I studied at International House in Krakow in Poland. I gained a CELTA

Between September 2008 and April 2009, I taught ICT at the British International School in Krakow

From April 2009 to June 2011, I worked in England teaching ICT. I met my ex-girlfriend in England and decided to move to Poland to live with her

October 2011 to July 2019 – I moved to Opole in Poland and started teaching in the ESL sector. I worked as a Corporate Trainer and taught Business English on-site at companies throughout the Opolskie region. I also taught Cambridge English at all levels.

November 2013 – I gained a TOEIC Teaching qualification

October 2014 to January 2018 – I was employed by the Technical University of Dresden to teach Business English to Masters students at IHI Zittau (one day per week during academic term-time).

April 2014 to June 2019 – I ran my own company (English Language school). I invoiced clients and had many contracts with a wide variety of clients including IT Companies, Corporations, English Language Schools, Schools and Directors etc.

August 2017 – I bought a flat in Opole in Poland and decorated it in a beautifully English style.

March 2019 – I bought a Canon EOS 80D and started to buy other vlogging/photographic equipment.

Vietnam

April 2019 – I accepted an offer to teach ICT in Vietnam. I received three Apostilles for working in Vietnam (Degree, CELTA and PGCE)

July 2019 – I will move to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam. 

August 2019 – I will start teaching ICT in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam.
