MBA programs offer scientific approaches to management. Courses can familiarise students with crucial areas of business such as finance, marketing, human resources and accounting etc.

Graduates from these programs usually make excellent negotiators, strategists and analysts. They are adept at international relations in the growing global economy. MBA courses usually have a practical element – so students may be required to:

  • Implement workplace safety requirements

Specific ICT skills include the use of Microsoft Excel for data processing and analysis

  • Data management tools: data validation, consolidation, what-if analysis, etc
  • Creating charts
  • Analysing data with Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts

It can also involve managing business data with Microsoft Access

  • Inputting data and working with records
  • Retrieving, sorting, and filtering data and records
  • Working with tables and fields

  • Creating forms
  • Creating reports
  • Importing and exporting data between Access and Excel

When students gain an MBA, they may be required to:

  • Establish and carry out departmental or organisational goals, policies and procedures
  • Direct and oversee an organisation’s financial and budgetary activities
  • Manage general activities related to making products and providing services
  • Innovate by applying new technologies in the workplace
  • Consult with other executives, staff and board members about operations
  • Negotiate or approve contracts and agreements
  • Appoint department heads and managers
  • Analyze financial statements, sales reports and other performance indicators
  • Identify places to cut costs and to improve performance, policies and programs
